Artur Jorge Torres Gomes Araújo Amorim (born 1 January 1972 in Braga) is a Portuguese football manager and former footballer who played as a defender between 1991 and 2005. ==Playing career== Born in Braga, Artur Jorge's football career was mainly spent in his home town. He started his career in 1991 with Arsenal Braga at the age of 19. In his first full season he managed five goals in thirty appearances from defence. His fantastic displays earned interest from several clubs from which in the summer of 1992 he signed for Braga of the Primeira Liga. As he started out with Braga he was primarily used as a substitute. Following a couple of seasons being used as a substitute, he would go on to play more regularly and became a first team regular within Braga's team. His most notable moment as a player was leading Braga to the Taça de Portugal final in 1998 where Braga would lose to FC Porto, 1–3. He would go on to play for Braga until the 2003–04 season. He ended his twelve-year spell with Braga in the summer of 2004 where he would leave for newly promoted Penafiel. In the 2004–05 season, he would play very little in Penafiel's mid table finish. Following the end of the 2004–05 season, he announced his retirement from playing football.
